| MCFARLANE TOYS INVADE COMICKAZE: |
|
PLAY BALL?
Todd McFarlane, the creative force behind McFarlane Toys, is an ardent sports fan. "All my l ife, I've been underwhelmed by the sports action figures sold in the toy aisles," said McFarlane. "From t he day I entered the toy business, it was my goal to create an authentic-looking line of sports figures that capture the genuine thrill of sports competition." He's starting with professional hockey and has worked closely with the National Hockey League Players' Association to license a line of 10 of the top players in the League - including Curtis Joseph, Ray Bourque, Eric Lindros, Steve Yzerman, Paul Kariya, Jaromir Jagr, Mark Messier and Patrick Roy. McFarlane hopes to eventually break into all four major North American sports.
McFarlane Toys is a sponsor of the Major League Baseball Players Association's first-ever "Big League Challenge," and will create action figures of the hitters participating in the event: Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Alex Rodriguez, Barry Bonds, Jose Canseco, Nomar Garciaparra, Shawn Green, Chipper Jones, Rafael Palmeiro, Mike Piazza, Manny Ramirez and Greg Vaughn. "Having the opportunity to help sponsor the Big League Challenge and to be part of an event with many of the best home run hitters in baseball is something any true fan with the right resources would jump at," Todd McFarlane said. "Add to that the fact that I can improve the quality of baseball action figures to the level that the fans and players themselves deserve." |

PUMP UP THE VOLUME!
School 's in, sucker, and Alice Cooper is here to teach you a thing or three about rock 'n' roll. Alice - just part of our 2000 music line which includes such other artists as Rob Zombie, Kid Rock, KISS and Janis Joplin - invented the entire rock-as-theater movement. His trademark evil visuals made Alice Cooper concerts more of a spectacle. This spooky action figure is made-up in concert garb with a huge snake wrapped around him. The figure comes with a custom guillotine backdrop and a bunch of creepy accessories.
The greatest showmen in rock 'n' roll, KISS are a veritable multimedia empire. And with Todd McFarlane a nd all the band members taking turns at the wheel, they're driving the whole rig (action figures, monthly Psycho Circus comic book, quarterly KISS magazine) straight down the highway to hard rock history. Members of the KISS Army are serious about their merchandise and McFarlane Toys is serious about providing top-quality action figures. We've set the standard for KISS figures through our first three lines and No. 4 will be no different. This year's series is more lifelike than previous lines. It's an exact reproduction of a famous 1976 concert photograph; the figures can be grouped to re-create this moment in time. And, of course, the figures are packaged with guitars and drums for you to rock out.
Hey-ye ah, it's the one that you wanted. Rob Zombie is at the forefront of the new metal movement. After fronting the band White Zombie for years, Zombie's much-anticipated 1998 solo effort, "Hellbilly Deluxe," yielded several hits ("Superbeast," "Dragula," "Living Dead Girl") and his constant touring set him atop the heavy metal heap. And, look at him: He's a total walking action figure just waiting to happen. This Rob Zombie figure is detailed right down to his trademark dreadlocks and comes with a 9-inch-tall skulls-and-stones backdrop and two monster claw attachments.
"I get by with a little help from my friends." And a new set of Beatles Yellow Submarine figures, too, mate. Mc Farlane Toys' first line of Beatles figures - released in 1999 and based on the band's 1968 animated "Yellow Submarine" movie - sold like Lucy in the Sky's diamonds at a precious gem wholesaler. The second series features John, Paul, Ringo and George in their Sgt. Pepper costumes from the movie. As with the first series, each figure in Yellow Submarine II will be packaged with a character from the film. So let it be, man, let it be. a few. I THINK I'M TURNING JAPANESE!
Revered for decades in its native Japan, anime has only recently become popular in the United States. In choosing characters for the line, McFarlane Toys started with "Akira," the film that helped introduce the anime style to mainstream America. The line of action figures will include Tetsuo, the protagonist of the film who is the subject of government experiments empowering him with telekinetic powers, and Kaneda, Tetsuo's childhood friend. We will also produce Kaneda's awesome red motorcycle from the film. Also in the line is Vash the Stampede from the television series "Trigun." Vash looks stylish with his long red trenchcoat, electric blond hair and heavy armament. Vash is a noted gunslinger with a huge bounty on his head, despite the fact that he refuses to kill anyone!
McFarlane Toys will also produce an action figure of Ryoko from the Tenchi Muyo! empire (video series, television series, feature films and comic books). Ryoko is a 700-year-old demon accidentally released from imprisonment by a high school student, Tenchi Masaki. Several other characters will be added from these and other properties to the anime line in the future. Check out these all new and exciting figures. |

These two hops hosers are best known as the stars of the cult classic movie "Strange Brew" and as members of the comedy show SCTV, Canada's answer to "Saturday Night Live." Beauty, eh? Bob and Doug McKenzie (played by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas, respectively) are popular worldwide with fans of, in no particular order, beer, back bacon, doughnuts, beer, one-liners, Canadiana (that's like Americana only ... Canadian) and beer. The fully detailed and articulated Bob and Doug action figures are sold separately with a complement of extras, voice chips with signature sound phrases and half a diorama that assembles into a complete custom backdrop (with plenty o' suds) when the figures are put together. |

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE:
McFarlane Toys
Maurice Sendak's ground-breaking 1963 book Where the Wild Things Are established him as a true visionary in the world of children's literature. In 1964 he received the Caldecott Medal for the book, and in 1970 was the first American illustrator to be awarded the prestigious Hans Christian Anderson Award, for his entire body of work. Wild Things is still one of the pre-eminent children's books even today, and McFarlane Toys worked closely with Sendak to create a series of characters straight from the pages of the book.
